When Americans set priorities, how important is the concept of justice? When polled by Strategic Vision, 1200 Americans said justice for those who perished September 11, was the thing they wanted above all else. While the concept of justice has been strong over the 22 years that Strategic Vision, Inc. has measured the core values of the American public, it has never been stronger than now. Justice, as a principle and as an action of destroying the terrorist network, has the highest priority, ranking above safety in the homeland, security in the sky, and helping the economy. Americans are willing to put the pursuit of justice above personal concerns. We are still invested in those principles that were, and still are, the foundation of our country. The survey was part of an-going cross sectional study of Americans initiated in 1979. To date over 15,000 responses have been gathered to core value questions. The survey measures the emotional climate and core values of Americans for government and business. Strategic Vision, Inc. is a California Corporation, founded by Dr. Darrel Edwards, J. Susan Johnson, and Sharon Shedroff -- all psychologists. Dr. Edwards is the founder of ValueCentered Psychology. ValueCentered Psychology defines the relationship between our personal values like security, trust, freedom or esteem and those things and behaviors that are the sites for satisfying our needs, like family, country or justice. " It is these links that define our priorities and determine our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors," reports Dr. Edwards. We all want security. Some get security from their links to their families; some get security from their links to their local street gang. The survey was initiated by Dr. Edwards and conducted between September 25th and November 2nd. The survey asked respondents to report their current judgment on each issue from : "Very Important" to "Not Important." (Top box scores represented)
