ReCon

Our research convention for NVES subscribers. Once a year, the people who use the study help decide what it asks next.

ReCon brings NVES subscribers into one room: automotive manufacturers, suppliers to the industry, and agencies, along with others whose work depends on understanding the vehicle owner. Part of the agenda looks outward, at where the market is going. Part of it looks inward, at the study itself.

Subscribers shape the instrument

A substantial share of every ReCon is spent walking through the NVES questionnaire with the people who use the results. What earns its place stays. What does not gets challenged. Questions the industry now needs get proposed, argued over, and in many cases written into the next study.

Giving subscribers that kind of say over a syndicated instrument is unusual, and it is deliberate. A study only its authors can change stops keeping up.

What else is on the agenda

Sessions run across where the market is heading and how the research gets done. Recent editions have covered electrification and what is actually holding buyers back, competition from Chinese automakers, autonomy and the trust it requires, software and the interface, privacy and subscription pricing, loyalty and conquest, and what the consumer of 2045 will look like both demographically and emotionally. Method sessions cover how the research is conducted, and how findings get turned into something a room full of decision-makers can act on.

Who attends

ReCon is built for NVES subscribers and their teams. People who do not subscribe attend as well, by invitation, when the questions on the agenda are ones they are working on too.
