NVES
The New Vehicle Experience Study. Owners of new cars and light trucks in the US market, surveyed on what they bought, what they feel about it, and why. Running since 1994, nine million respondents to date.

What the study is, what you can win, and the charity vote →For fifty years we have measured the values and emotions behind buying decisions, and shown clients what to do about them.
The Mobility Experience Studies share one instrument. NVES has fielded it every year since 1994, which is what lets this year’s number be read against one from three decades ago. UVES was built on that foundation to understand the used vehicle consumer experience, and the Ride-Hail study was designed around the experience of both the passenger and the driver. The interviews behind them are where that instrument came from, and where we go when a question needs more than a survey can answer.

Explore NVES →The Used Vehicle Experience Study. The same instrument turned on recently purchased previously-owned vehicles, model year 2014 and newer, where a growing share of the market actually buys.
Explore UVES →The Ride-Hail Experience Study. Riders, the drivers who work for the platforms, and people who have never used one, across eight measures from adoption to loyalty. Many respondents are NVES owners too, so a household's vehicle and its ride-hail habits can be read together.
Explore RHES →Product, message and retail experience evaluated with real buyers, in person. Where the syndicated data tells you what is happening, a clinic tells you what to change.
See clinic formats →One on one and in depth. A structured conversation that starts with the product in front of the respondent and follows their own words down to the emotions and values underneath. Focus groups, paired interviews and observational work where the question calls for them.
How the interviews work →Most research tells you what people did. Ours tells you what they were trying to get, and how strongly. That difference is why a study first fielded in 1994 still changes what a client does next quarter.
Read the method
A ValueCentered interview is a structured, in-depth conversation, run one on one. It opens on the surface, the physical attributes and benefits of the thing itself, then links those down to the emotions and values underneath. What counts as an issue is defined by the words and phrases the respondent supplies, not by a list we brought with us.
Those words become the instrument. A syndicated study of ours carries more than 200 psychographic and demographic questions built that way, fielded the same way every year, which is what lets this year's number be compared against one from three decades ago.
Both run on the same framework, which is why what surfaces in the interview room and what shows up in the syndicated study can be read against each other rather than argued about.
ValueCentered Psychology has been used to uncover the emotional dynamics behind decision-making in a wide variety of categories.
Every award below comes out of the same syndicated data: the people who own the vehicles and live with them every day. They are the actual experts on the product. We publish the winners and the method behind them. Complete standings are available to study subscribers.
